Applying for employment at
RSI
Although we are located in Basalt,Colorado
(15 miles from Aspen, Colorado) we're not your typical Rocky Mountain Region
firm. While remaining conscientious and respectful of historic, regional vernacular,
our design is rooted in modernist principles. In our portfolio review we look
for candidates who share this understanding and demonstrate a good balance
of practical "out of the box" design. We also look carefully for
innovation and thoughtfulness in the details. Regardless of the tools used,
we look for excellent draftsmanship, professionalism and follow through. Qualities
that manifest a passion for design and which always put the client first are
likewise important to us. We are interested in a candidate's ambition to make
great contributions to our field. We expect our office team to either have
a design background or to be working towards that goal.

Living in the Roaring Fork
Valley
Basalt is a down-valley community
located 15 miles from Aspen, and is the “up and coming” town of
the Roaring Fork Valley. Properties and rents in Basalt, although more affordable
than Aspen, are still significantly higher than any state or national average.
The roaring Fork Valley and
Aspen in particular is a spectacularly beautiful place. It is also physically
and culturally stimulating. As with any location in the world that is such a
desirable place to live, Aspen is also extremely expensive. A free market
one-bedroom apartment in Aspen is rented for $1,400-1,500. In Basalt you would find a one-bedroom
for around $1,000. There is an employee-housing program available in Basalt. In
order to qualify you must be a Basalt employee.
